Applying for Awards

Application forms should be submitted by suitable candidates to the Membership Committee Chairperson no later than August 30. An official letter of acceptance from a recognized post-secondary institution must accompany application.
 
It is incumbent on the applicant to disclose in the application any other Awards applied for or received. Payment of the award to successful applicants will be made directly to the institution. Applicants must submit an official transcript from a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution with their application. If a candidate is applying for more than one award, submission of one official transcript is sufficient. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
 
 
 
16.6.2 Criteria for the Doris Stenbraten Scholarship. (AGM, 2003)
The awards will be on the basis of the following criteria:
1. A minimum standard will be deemed to be an overall average of 80% with 75% as the lowest acceptable subject mark in the most recent year of studies.
2. Preference will be given to applicants entering a field of Education.
3. Applicants must have completed the major portion of their education in the Yukon educational system will be given priority.
4. Applicants must include information of their extracurricular involvement in their respective school and/or in their community. Letters of reference supporting their commitments would be helpful.
16.6.3 Criteria for the Mary Gartside Bursary (AGM, 2003)
1. A minimum standard will be deemed to be an overall average of 75% with 66% as the lowest acceptable subject mark in the most recent year of studies.
2. Preference will be given to applicants entering a career in the field of education.
3. Applicants must have completed the major portion of their education in the Yukon educational system.
4. Applicants must include information of their extracurricular involvement in their respective school and/or in their community. Letters of reference supporting their commitments would be helpful.
16.6.4 Criteria for the Elijah Smith Award (AGM, 2003)
1. A minimum standard will be deemed to be an overall average of 75% with 66% as the lowest acceptable mark for the most recent year of studies.
2. Preference will be given to applicants entering a field of Education, Native Studies or Human Service Field.
3. A First Nations student will be given preference. Applicants are therefore asked to indicate their First Nations ancestry.
4. Applicants must have completed the major portion of their education in the Yukon educational system will be given priority.
5. Applicants must include information of their extracurricular involvement in their respective school and/or in their community. Letters of reference supporting their commitments would be helpful.
