The principal is the lead learner in schools and is responsible and accountable for quality teaching and learning. The leadership practices captured in this document are aspirational. Depending on where a principal or vice-principal is in his or her career path and in what community he or she is situated, it is important to recognize that administrators will not be equally skilled in every area of this framework. All principals and vice-principals are expected as educational leaders to demonstrate responsibility for their personal professional growth, and as leaders recognize the importance of continuously striving for excellence in
all areas of the Educational Leadership Framework. They may be moving towards these leadership expectations by differentiating to their own growth
needs relevant to the communities in which they lead. What we know is that personal inquiry and ongoing self-assessment builds and strengthens leadership and learning. This document is a guide for that self-reflection and personal professional growth.
